Current music:I Hope That I Don't Fall in Love With You - Tom Waits
Entry tags:travel

You all know that I'm a bit daft. Ultimately harmless, but a little daft all the same.

Well, today? I realized that we're actually visiting Liechtenstein on our trip.

How's that? The day before I fly, I realize that I'm visiting a country I didn't think I was visiting.

The final episode of Life On Mars aired tonight. I'd seen it months ago, but it was lovely to watch on the big telly. Interestingly, they didn't play Tom Waits' I Hope That I Don't Fall in Love With You but rather the Sam/Annie theme during the scene in his apartment.

Also I was wondering if people could rec me some music? I've got a fair bit of credit left on my iTunes account, and I'd like to use it up before I leave so that I can have some new tunes.

AHHHHHH! We fly tomorrow night!

And you only started packing today?!

*shocked*

But yay! :) You're flying out tomorrow! I'll try not to miss you too much, eh? *g*

I only started packing this afternoon and I've the finishing touches tomorrow. I'm not worried - we fly at 22.30 and I check in on the net beforehand. It's just the way I do things; at the last minute. Like homework. I once went to an exam and realized about two hours before it started that we'd had the essay topic for a few weeks. *g*

I'm really going to miss LJ - I've decided against taking my laptop, because it's just too much extra weight. Doctor Who! The SQUEE! The FIC! The YOU!

Which is fair enough - laptops are a bit of a pain to lug around - that said, though, I'd never be able to leave mine behind. *g* (Lucky I'm a big, strong man. *cough*)

New Who'll be hard to pass up on - even for the world's greatest holiday - I admire you. ;)

You... you're insane, you know that? *g* Leaving everything 'til the 11th hours. IMO, last minute would've been two days ago. *g* (You're limiting the amount of shoes you're taking, right?)

sure thing, Muscles

It's not so much the lugging it around, it's the weight restrictions for the planes. Especially since we're flying a domestic company from Cardiff to Edinburgh, which doesn't allow much.

Are you kidding me? Do you know how embarrassed I am by the fact that the first thing I do in Rome will be finding an internet cafe!? I must have the squee! You know how I am with these things; Who is my oxygen! I won't be able to get the episode, so I expect you to write a detailed description of it. *flutters eyelashes* Pleeeease?

I've...I've just now figured out what IMO means. This is a historic day. Pardonnez moi! I'm taking three pairs of boots (one I'll be wearing on the plane) and a cute pair of formal flats.

Also - any music recs? I've already bought and fallen in love with Someday by that band that you like. *wink* Thanks so much for that! *sigh*

I'm starting to think I should have never told you that...

Do they check carry on luggage? They didn't here, but I know that doesn't mean much...

Well, it's very nearly the first thing I did in Tasmania. *g* You'll get no judgement from me.

Seriously? I... uh, don't normally write detailed descriptions. Or reviews. Or, you know, reactions, beyond a few lines. I'm not sure I'd be any good at it, to be honest. My squee is usually harshed on account of the fact that... I'm a boy. *g* I don't even capslock very much. (I will try though, if you really want me to... I have taken the day off work, so I should have time.)

So... you're taking four pairs of shoes, and not one of them suitable for the extended walks that occur during tourist-like-activities? *g* You're such a girl. *g*

Music... music... I really don't know. My taste in music is really, really broad - everything from Nickelback to Michael Buble. What type of music do you like? (Apart from "old" that is. *g*)

Muahahahahahahahaha

Ok, I'll never use that name again. *g*

Oh, they do check here. I've never even been close, but then again I've never undertaken a trip of this magnitude. I'm allowed 20kg, and I've about 13.

These are the boots the I traipse up and down the city in, so I'm sure I'll be fine. I've a pair that I don't mind getting dirty and all three pairs are extremely comfy and warm. *pokes* HA! I did the Duke of Ed in chucks, and I was the only one who didn't get sore feet!

*blows rasberry* I like more than old music, thankyouverymuch! I love the Strokes and Belle and Sebastian, Muse, The Killers. I've actually been working my way through Blackpool's playlist and Life on Mars' playlist for tunes.

You are such a dork! You don't think you have it in you to squee in detail and capslock, but you've taken the day off! Well, just please write about anything particularly wonderful or hilarious or something that you think I'll really like. I'm relying on you here! :)

I know they check luggage you check in, but I've never had my carry on stuff checked. *shrug* Probably because you can add to it once you're through the gates anyway and they'd be none the wiser. *g*

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt then. (But I still think that's incredibly girlie. *g* A cute sort of girlie, sure, but girlie all the same.) You did the Duke of Ed? I was never that athletic in highschool. Rep baseball/football was as far as I went and then I was mostly the ball boy. ;)

Now the LoM playlist is pretty cool - I love that one song... about rainbows? Or something. Anyway... uh... have you tried Josh Pyke? He's a local boy, sounds a bit like Pete Murray. Only better, as he's Aussie. Or... uh... I need to look through my music folder. (Over 10GB and I don't know half the stuff in here.)

I am not a do-

There's no point even trying to deny that, is there? *g* And I've taken the day off for, like, lots of reasons! I've the Kerths in the morning, and then I need to do the newsletter, plus, I have to do the laundry and... things... and... I sort of want to do a mini-marathon before I sit down to watch the new episode, and... yeah, I'm a total dork. I'll do you a play-by-play if you really want - I'll even include caps if you're really nice. *g* (With or without Dave's Completely Biased Opinions (TM)?)

Oh, it's all a bit confusing. Emirates are a little inconsistent with how many carry-on pieces they'll allow, so I'd need to either...you know what? It gets very detailed on my handbags and their sized so...

I just think that when I've got all of my souvenirs (Doctor Who! Beatles!shop!) I'll have too much to carry. It's alright, I'm happy to go without. Sort of. Kind of.

I suppose it's a teeny, tiny bit girlie. Only a little bit. They really are very comfy. I'm not taking much make-up though, and I'm only taking a hair-dryer because I've long hair and in that weather, it'll NEVER dry, so I'll catch the death of me. It's a little travel one. *is embarrassed*

Yeah, I did the Duke of Ed. I haven't been in years, but I used to love to go camping. I'm not particularly fit, but I can walk for miles and I love being out in the bush. The simplicity of it, the stars. Hehehe, I was swim captain. Which is very embarrassing.

I love that one song... about rainbows? Or something. Anyway...

Erm...you mean What a Wonderful World? I think Louis Armstong and Israel Kamakawiwoʻole just rolled over in their graves. You really are a dork. *grins* The music in the first ep was one of the main things that grabbed me; Bowie's Life on Mars, Cream's White Room and The Who's Baba O'Riley are some of my all-time favourite songs. I also love Sweet and Slade.

Josh Pyke. *taps chin contemplatively* ok, ta! I'll go and check him out.

Ah yes - the Kerths. Which you've won an award for. All seriousness though, that's actually really cool. A mini-marathon? Awwwwwwww. Hey, laundry is serious work!

I really do want. *snuggles* Your biased opinions will probably be similar to my biased opinions, wo whatever floats your boat!

Ah, yes. I didn't factor in souvenirs - silly of me, I know. *nods* I always figured that I'd be posting a whole heck of a lot of stuff back to me if I ever went away. *g* But then, you know, I can live off two pairs of jeans and a tube of toothpaste. *grunts all manly-like*

Teeny, tiny, whole heck of a lot. *g* It's okay though, really. *g* A hair dryer though, really? You know most hotels provide them now, right? But I wouldn't want to risk you catching your death. Silly European weather. You know what, take two, just in case. And mittens! Have you packed mittens? You should really consider mittens.

Swim captain, eh? I... erm... can't swim.

It's called 'Over the Rainbow' on my play list. *hangs head in shame*

Life on Mars is a great song... but the only one I recognise from what you've mentioned. *head is hang-in-shame-d out*

Two awards, I think. Best New Author and Best... Drama? Possibly. (Oi, is it bad that I've forgotten? I'll go check in a minute, no doubt.)

And okay, I will, but only because it's you.

Ooooh! *stomps feet* I can live off less, if need be, but at the moment I'm fine.

Two pairs of jeans...would it horrify you to know that I don't own a single pair of jeans? *hides* What about a shirt, my good man!? You'll need a shirt! Toothpaste, not even a toothbrush?

Hey! I'll have you know that I just trapped a white tail on the ceiling and released him in the backyard! How's that for girly? I am THAT snazzy! Dad says that I'm supposed to kill White tails (he only kills white tails and red backs) but I don't kill anything.

Should I also pack a nose-warmer? *g* Unfortunately, I don't have the Doctor to undress dress me. It's only a tiny hairdryer, cost ten bucks. My hair is long and thick, and barely dries even in our summer weather. I can't go traipsing around with it sopping wet! It's alright for blokes with curly hair!

YOU CAN'T SWIM?!? Not even a little, for safety reasons?! Sorry. I'm calming down as we speak.

When I get home, I am going to teach you a thing or two about music. Nah, snootyness and tunes aren't good bedfellows. Cream - Eric Clapton.

Best New Author? That's so lovely! 'll have to read these fics at some point.

And okay, I will, but only because it's you.

*beams*

I'd like to see you live off less. (And yes, I'm fully aware I didn't mention a shirt. *G*) There are ways around toothbrushes. Toothpaste, though, that's a personal thing, that is.

You don't own any jeans? None at all? How is that... how is that even possible? My mind, it boggles.

Ah, very brave of you, that. My sister absolutely freaks out at the mention of spiders, never mind if she saw one. So yes, well above the girly-o-meter there. ;) I tend to ignore spiders mostly - unless they're big and ugly - because... well, the other spiders are watching, aren't they? And if they see me attack one, they might gang up on me in my sleep. S'also why I leave ants alone - they're tiny, but they've got numbers behind them, oh yes.

I've never actually heard of a nose warmer before, but sure. *g* And... don't get me started about my hair. It needs a cut, and it's letting me know. There's this one curl - my friends call it the Elvis curl - that just hangs in the middle of my forehead, all... curled and insolent. *sighs* (And why am I telling you this? *g*)

And nope, can't swim. I mean, I can float, and can, on occasion, flail myself from one side of a pool to the other, but swimming? I wouldn't call it swimming.

When I get home, I am going to teach you a thing or two about music.

Looking forward to it. ;)

Yep, Best New Author. I reckon it was a bit of a rubbish win - I'm far from anything resembling good, especially back then, but - I'll link you if you want. One day. I'm not ashamed. *cough*

See, I think a toothbrush is a personal thing. Although you're right, there are ways around them; fingers, for example.

Nope. No jeans. None at all. I found them really uncomfortable as a kid and then just never wore them. I suppose we'll call it even: I don't have jeans, you can't swim. *g*

We ignore spiders too, unless they're white tails or red backs, which are dangerous. All of the daddy long-legs in my room are called George and Harry.

well, the other spiders are watching, aren't they? And if they see me attack one, they might gang up on me in my sleep.

Oh my gosh! I'm SO glad it's not just me that thinks that! I always think that if spiders or ants ever do take over the world, they'll think of me and remember that I never hurt them. I even turn beetles the right way up when I walk from place to place!

Actually, the idea for the nose-warmer came from an old episode of Whinnie the Pooh, in which Piglet loses his. *blushes*

You need to post a picture of your hair! I want to see this curl! David Tennant needs a cut, but he doesn't let that stop him and we all love him for it!

Yes, send me the link, I'd love to read it. Not tonight, but before I go.

Fingers, exactly. But toothpaste - I have to use a certain type. It's about the only bathroom product I get specific about, my toothpaste. Hence the 'personal thing'. *g*

I still can't believe you don't wear jeans - as a uni student, they just about make up my wardrobe. Unofficial uniform and all that. *g*

You think that too? Heck, thought I was insane alone in that thought. ;)

Um... I'll think about it? I think there might be a picture of my hair just after a haircut somewhere on my LJ actually...

I'll send you the link now anyway. Don't expect you to read it, but I'll forget otherwise. ;)

There's nothing wrong with liking a specific kind of toothpaste! :) I'm very particular about what colour blush I use, but that's probably not an issue for you.

Nobody can wrap their minds around the no-jeans thing! I just wear trousers - usually browns and blacks...like suit pants, but not as formal, or skirts and stockings.

Nope, not alone!:) I'm a vegetarian, so I'm going to be fine when the world goes pear-shaped!

Reeeeeeeally, a picture? I'll have to go searching for this. In a non-stalkery way, of course!

I'll definately read the fic, so cheers for the link! I'll have a look at it tomorrow - I've got to be off to bed, or else I'll never get up early enought to put a wash on tomorrow morning. I've started turning off my alarm whilst still alseep - ggggrrrrggg.

I hope you're feeling much better. *hugs*

Night!:)

I'm quite into Taylor Swift at the moment, she's a bit country but has nice songs. I haven't been into country music for quite some time, but I've just discovered her. And a band called Ingram Hill have a new album out, I loved their first, but I think I enjoy the second more :)

And if you still want my office number (I'll understand if you don't *sniff* ;)) I can post it here, as I actually have it written down in my in-tray. I always forget the order of the digits...

Alright, I'll run off to check them out on iTunes.

Also, yes, please! *g* I'd love to have the number. Otherwise, I'll probably get myself lost. Don't worry, I can't remember my mobile number.

Ingram Hill are one of those bands that no one over here in the UK knows a thing about, but turn out to be one of my favourites. Like Sister Hazel. Sigh, so they'll never tour over here!

Okay, without looking (I need to test myself) it's 020 7554 5457 *checks* Yes! Woo, I know my number! So, I guess that would make it 4420 7554 5457 if you need anything in Europe, I think. :D

Well, at least you didn't realize it when you were actually in Liechtenstein, that would have been a bit of a shock, I think.

On the subject of music, the stuff I'm really digging right now:

Mr. Brightside by The Killers
All of John Barrowman's "Another Side" CD
Misery Business by Paramore
On the Sea by Vertical Horizon
She Is by The Fray
Pump It by The Black Eyed Peas

Jack Johnson is kind of mellow, mainly guitar stuff. Kind of like beach or surf music if you know what I mean... :)

Not really good at explaining, me..

Banana Pancakes is good like Burtonwhorshiper said, but he also has a new album out called Sleep Through the Static and I really like the song by the same name, and Monsoon is really good on that album as well.

My sister used to love Dave Matthews Band and I only knew a couple of songs but I recently got a lot of his songs/albums for free and the more I listen to the more I love it! I especially like the song Seek Up right now.
