As I was walking into work today, something on the pavement caught my eye. An iPod.

It's one of those 8GB ones, just a baby. It was sitting in the middle of NOWHERE.

I've decided to put a poster up on a tree where I found it. If somebody rings, I'll ask for them to prove it's theirs - it has a name in the settings and I'll get them to list a few of the artists.

At work, I kept thinking something has to happen to counteract this.

It did. When I got home, Amy told me that mum had her purse stolen today.

I couldn't believe it. We traipsed around some notoriously pick-pockety locations, and then she gets it snatched at home. To be honest with you, I'm not entirely sure she didn't just leave it somewhere. She's completely scattered these days.

Damn.

You know what? I want a Real Life Doctor Who friend - I feel almost lonely in my fandom. You guys are THE LOVE, don't get me wrong, but I don't see you. I want someone who I can watch the episodes with and squee with. I think I need to trade in my friends for some newer models. *g*

Mum got hit in the face with a basketball today. She was on an escalator at the shops and then suddenly, wham! smack in the face

Mum's not the toughest of people these days, but she wasn't hurt in any lasting way. She's ok now.

Anyway, the boys that had been playing with the ball laughed when it hit her and didn't apologize, so:

When they asked for their ball back, mum scooped it up, tucked it under her arm and said:

"no, you bloody well can't, and if you keep this up, I'll call the cops."

Now, sitting in our kitchen, is a basketball!

I'm currently in Changi Airport. I don't know if you've ever been here, but it's enormous! Not as big as Dubai, but that's something else entirely.

Aaaaaaanyway, I just wanted to say hello. It's been hard to get to a computer. The ones in the hotel last night were...BRACE YOURSELF... one dollar a minute.

Just wanted to say that I know that there are a lot of unanswered comments floating around. I haven't forgotten them or you, I PROMISE! I'll get to them. Ok, I'm finally a little homesick.

I'm in London at the moment, and it is by far the best place I've been on the whole trip. The underground is easy - I realize now how MIND-BOGGLINGLY difficult Melbourne's train system is. If I hadn't lived there my entire life, I wouldn't have a clue. Trains run from different platforms, skip some stations and not others, and then skip those stations depending on what time of the day it is. It's crazy at home.

As it is, I'm missing my bed and struth, I'm missing my laptop. Desperately. It's probably a good thing that I didn't take it, because I'd never have left the wi-fi hotel rooms, but I miss it.

Most of all, I miss my KEYBOARD! The one I'm using now is impossible. It's the size of pinkie finge. Everything is squished and moved about three inches to the left.

London hasn't been anywhere near as expensive as I thought it'd be. For all my pre-leaving panic, I'm actually (and I never thought Id say this in my entire life) swimming in money. I have 500 euros that I just never used, as well as 100 swiss francs. Keep in mind I only had 150 swiss francs to start with.

We've seen heaps of places but, most importantly:

Not only do I love Shakepeare (Hamlet in particular) but Doctor Who! David had stood there! SQUEEEEEE!

Speaking of Doctor Who, I watched The Planet of the Ood last night, and it'so ok again tonight. I have such love for Donna. Everything about her is brilliant. She's hilarious but still incredibly touching.

Anyway, must be off. I missing you all terribly and I hope you're well.

Oh, and christn7? One of my boots broke yesterday. The heel came clean off and I fell over. *sniffle* I was broken. The others have been holding up nicely though, so nah!

The final episode of Life On Mars aired tonight. I'd seen it months ago, but it was lovely to watch on the big telly. Interestingly, they didn't play Tom Waits' I Hope That I Don't Fall in Love With You but rather the Sam/Annie theme during the scene in his apartment.

Also I was wondering if people could rec me some music? I've got a fair bit of credit left on my iTunes account, and I'd like to use it up before I leave so that I can have some new tunes.

My whole family was in the living room, me tapping away at my laptop watching bits of the recent Tennant Friday Night Project. When David got out of the car, as the presenters do, I shouted:

"GOD! DAVID I JUST WANT TO PUSH..."

Then I trailed off, as my whole family stared at me. My mum, cheeky witch that she is said "and do what?"

It's up there with the time I said "do you think there are postitutes around here?" whilst pracically standing next to one.

I also once said "GOD ANDREW! I FUCKING HATE YOU" when the guy I was seeing at the time was not only called Andrew, but in the room. The Andrew I was referring to was a character on a telly show I was watching.

ALSO my dad just gave me one thousand dollars for the holiday. I...I practically fainted in the kitchen.

Oh cripes. I think every author who's ever written Doctor Who smut froze for a second there, in fear. I want to find out who wrote it!

Seriously. I exeeded my daily limit of one thousand dollars. That's never happened before.

In all fairness though, I did spent two thousand dollars on foreign currency. I have 450 Euro and 550 BP on cards. I'm going to get some more to carry as actual cash, especially British pound, because I'm there for a week and I'm sure that I'll want to shop. Does this sound enough?

I was in a hurry at the bank - horrendous queues, but naturally - I knew the teller. He was a bloke I used to know a long time ago. So that took even more time.

I almost bought a pair of sparkly silver, ridiculously high heels today, despite my monetary woes, but then I thought that christn7 might come at me with a saucepan.

Mum bought me a suitcase today. Both mum and Amy think it looks like the Doctor's suit; although I didn't really see it until they pointed it out. It's black, with light brown pinstrips and red trim. It's pretty groovy!

I just got a call from my Aunty Joan.

My Uncle Trev's been put in hospital.

For those of you that don't know, my Uncle has bowel cancer.

I don't...I mean, he was always one of my favourite uncles as a kid, but we're not particularly close. It's just...it's really hard on my dad, facing his brother being sick and his wife being sick.

Trev's diagnosis came about a year after mum's but...it's a glimpse into the future that nobody particularly wants. I haven't seen him since February, but apparently he's been really worried and stressed, not eating much.

Must stay positive, I know. Must't cry. It's just so bloody hard.

We're set!

We have all of our accommodation receipts, all of our plane tickets and all of our train tickets. In our hands.

Everything is PAID for!

The fact that I still don't have a suitcase isn't an issue, because I don't yet have any clothes to put in one anyway.

Yes, it may be girly of me, but I've decided that I have no clothes. So, this Thursday is Shopping Day!

This, however, ties into the fact that I have no foreign currency; again not really an issue as I have no currency of any kind.

All of this doesn't matter though!

Also, in a way that only my mum could; she's forgotten which pain patch is old and which pain patch is new; so she's walking around with two on her arms. That's morphine, people! One of them is old, so there's not much juice in it, but it was kind of funny!
